Our Braided Model: Community + Clinical Care

Ihkapaskwa Collective - Our Community / Non-Profit Arm

Ihkapaskwa Collective delivers grant-funded and no-cost community programs such as:

  • Aunties Within Reach outreach & family navigation

  • Moontime Education & product distribution

  • Mobile maternal-health clinic

  • Knowledge-keeper honoraria, circles, and ceremonies

Programs remain free and low-barrier because they’re supported by grants, partnerships, and by revenue generated through Fireweed Health Collective Inc.

Fireweed Health Collective Inc. - Our Business / Provider Arm

Fireweed Health Collective Inc. is the fee-for-service branch of our work. It exists so independent Indigenous providers can offer billable clinical care, consulting, and specialty services in a transparent, sustainable way.

What falls under Fireweed Health Collective

Fireweed Midwives
Prenatal, postpartum & reproductive-health visits billed through AHS.

Omisimâw Wellness (Clinical Herbalism)
One-on-one consultations, personalized medicine formulas, and workshops charged per service or prescription.

Consulting & Training
Hourly or project-based contracts for program design, cultural-safety training, and systems change.

Visiting Practitioners & Aunties
Specialists (e.g., lactation counsellors, mental-health clinicians) set their own rates within our shared space.

Why a separate business arm?

  • Ensures providers are paid fairly and directly for professional services

  • Generates revenue that can subsidize community programming under Ihkapaskwa Collective

  • Keeps billing, liability, and professional regulations clear and compliant

  • Gives clients the option to claim eligible services through insurance or health-benefits plans*
